On Saturday December 12, 2009, St. Nicholas parish in New York organized a Symposium celebrating its 25th anniversary, and 100 years since the birth of Fr. Vasile Vasilachi. Hosted by the Union Theological Seminary at Columbia University, the Symposium had the goal of honoring the founders of St. Nicholas Romanian Orthodox Church in New York, especially the V. Rev. Fr. Archim. Vasile Vasilachi, pastor for 18 years of this community.

On the occasion of the EUROfEST and Romanian Film Festival at Montreal, which will be held between November 28 - December 6, EUROfEST in collaboration with the department of comparative literature, University of Montreal, organize at National Film Board of Canada, 1564, rue St. Denis, Montréal, between 4-5 December, a round table on the cinematographic and literary production in postcommunist Eastern Europe.

The Fall Meeting of the Eparchial Council took place at our Archdiocesan Center in Chicago on November 16, 2009. A large part of the membership participated in the plenary session. The meeting, presided by His Eminence Archbishop Nicolae, began in the morning. The agenda was full and listed below are some of the matters discussed:

This Saturday morning, on the ground that it's week-end time and they're off in the mountain-side, the Chief Prosecutor of Romania and the head prosecutors of sections of the Prosecutor's Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice  (Military and Penal and Criminologist Pursuit) have declined to release the copy of the Revolution Case File (97/P/1990) to the Association "21 December 1989", in spite of the clear stipulation in the  European Court of Human Rights' letter from 9 October, 4.30PM, stating that the injured party's "effective access" to the internal criminal investigation file also implies, "considering the impressive amount of documents" the release of copies of the relevant documents to the preparation of the claimants' case in front of the Court.

Standford University presents from October 2009 till May 2010 „The Stanford Romanian Film Series", a programme that contains romanian movies, all films shown with English subtitles in the Language Corner, Building 260 (Pigott Hall), Room 113, and start at 7:00 pm.
